About the Role
WWF-Thailand seeks a Project Coordinator (Habitat Improvement) for the Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex Wildlife Conservation project. The project focuses on strengthening law enforcement and anti-poaching patrols, conducting research and monitoring of tigers and other key wildlife, and implementing strategies to reduce human-elephant conflict around Kui Buri and Kaeng Krachan National Parks.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement habitat improvement activities for wild Asian elephants and other species.
- Monitor presence and use of grassland by wild Asian elephants and other species.
- Monitor and report interactions between wild elephants and local communities to help minimize conflicts.
- Conduct outreach and raise awareness with communities and schools around the national parks on wild Asian elephant conservation and human-elephant coexistence.
- Support Senior PM and PM to maintain regular contacts with local communities, stakeholders, and national/sub-national committees, including government agencies, academics, CSOs, NGOs, and INGOs assigned under project administration.
- Prepare cash advances and travel expense claims related to project activities under responsibility.
- Report on activities according to donor requirements and the M&E plan under responsibility.
- Assist the team in organizing workshops, events, meetings, trainings, and site visits, including preparation of official letters, invitation letters, agendas, and arranging equipment.
- Organize official incoming/outgoing communications between WWF and partners and update the database of technical reports, visual information, and lists of relevant companies.
- Assist with additional tasks as needed by team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in natural resources, conservation, environmental science, or relevant fields.
- At least 5 years' working experience in wildlife monitoring, habitat management, community and school outreach.
- Substantial work experience in Thailand (preferred).
- Able to work in forest or remote areas.
- Driving licence is required.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills internally and externally.
- Familiarity with governmental and non-governmental environmental conservation initiatives, key players, and challenges in Thailand.
- Expert in database management with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Fluency in Thai (required) and competence in English (strongly preferred).
Working Relationships
- Internal: Interact regularly with WWF-Thailand Conservation, Finance, and Communications staff, WWF Greater Mekong specialists, and WWF network donor offices.
- External: Engage with local communities, government agencies (Royal Forest Department; Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation), academics, CSOs, NGOs, and project partners.
