Senior Product Owner (Assortment Optimization)

About the Role

This is a new squad that will build AI/data-driven assortment planning capabilities for Makro's buying and merchandising teams. The Senior Product Owner will define tools that help buyers make better range decisions — from recommendation engines to assortment performance dashboards.

Key responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for assortment optimization tools on Commercial Hub
• Lead discovery with buyers and category managers to define range recommendation and planning features
• Define and prioritize features: range recommendation engine, assortment performance dashboards, stockout/overstock risk identification tools
• Write PRDs, manage backlog, and deliver features in close partnership with tech and data science teams
• Collaborate with the Item Management squad to ensure item data quality supports optimization models
• Track adoption and business outcome KPIs: recommendation adoption rate, range performance vs benchmark

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of product management experience, with exposure to data-driven or AI/ML products
• Strong ability to work with data science and analytics teams to translate models into usable features
• Experience working with merchandising, buying, or category management stakeholders
• Structured thinking with the ability to prioritize across competing demands
• Fluency in English; Thai is an advantage

Nice to Have

• Experience in retail or wholesale — understanding of category management and assortment planning
• Prior exposure to recommendation systems or demand forecasting
• Familiarity with Commercial Hub or similar internal commercial platforms
