About the Role

Reporting to the Shift Manager, the Shift Lead oversees operations of a team of shift technicians to ensure critical services and building systems are maintained to high standards, and that shift handovers are completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of shift technicians, provide guidance, conduct performance reviews and support a productive work environment.
• Ensure data centre and building operations run smoothly during the shift by monitoring critical services and systems and addressing issues promptly.
• Prepare detailed shift handover reports, conduct shift handover meetings, and communicate status and actions to incoming shifts.
• Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to resolve operational challenges and escalate complex issues to technical support when required.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements; conduct safety drills and training; report and document safety incidents or near‑misses.
• Provide technical assistance and troubleshoot issues during the shift; identify and implement process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in data centre operations or a similar role.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Technical proficiency in data centre systems and operations and ability to troubleshoot operational issues.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, 24/7 operational environment (shift work) and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards.
