SENIOR TECHNICAL CONSULTANT, THERMAL POWER

About the Company

AFRY is an international power sector consulting and engineering company with a large multinational team working across South‑East Asia. The Senior Technical Consultant role is based in Bangkok and supports gas, LNG and hydrogen‑fired power plants, biomass, waste‑to‑energy, hybrid power plants and carbon capture projects across the SEA region. The role involves consultancy, engineering studies and occasional short‑term travel within SEA.

Responsibilities

• Prepare power plant conceptual design studies, feasibility studies, lender's engineer and independent engineer assignments, and technical due diligence for power plant acquisitions
• Participate in EPC tendering, negotiations with EPC contractors, IPP bidding, PPA negotiations and general power project development
• Contribute to technical consulting assignments related to power plant projects and coordinate internal report preparation
• Prepare client reports (majority of work requires report writing in English)
• Optionally participate in proposal preparation, owner’s engineer construction projects and design review
• Opportunity to expand scope to renewable energy, green hydrogen and ammonia production/use in power plants for suitable candidates

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in mechanical or electrical engineering, energy economics or other relevant field
• Minimum 7 years (typical 7–20 years) professional experience in the power sector (utilities, IPPs, equipment suppliers, consultancy or engineering)
• Very good English language skills; much of the work involves writing reports in English
• Good report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Willingness to travel on short‑term assignments across South‑East Asia
