Commodity Manager

About the Role

This role is responsible for driving cost competitiveness and initiating cost-saving activities to meet business targets. The position leads Southeast Asia strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with regional and global sourcing strategies within a matrix organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing activities for assigned commodities to ensure competitive pricing, supply continuity, and quality in line with customer critical requirements.
• Manage, coach, and develop a team of purchasing professionals across functions within a matrix structure.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and industry networks to introduce innovative sourcing solutions and challenge existing practices.
• Drive value creation through effective sourcing strategies and supplier relationship management.
• Collaborate closely with material planning, logistics, plant leadership, and business stakeholders to align sourcing activities with operational needs.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support new program requirements and project launches.
• Translate material requirements into purchase orders and ensure timely delivery through proactive follow-up.
• Mitigate supply risks by supporting sourcing strategies that address market volatility and supplier disruptions while ensuring continuity of supply at optimal cost and quality.
• Lead new program sourcing activities, including cost tracking, supplier readiness, and launch execution.
• Act as the key interface between purchasing and stakeholders, serving as the central point for program-related information.
• Uphold high standards of quality, compliance, and integrity in all sourcing activities.
• Drive capability building by training, leading, and motivating cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation of sourcing strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in sourcing or purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
• International exposure and systems knowledge are advantageous.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
