Principal (Forward Deployed AI Engineer)

Responsibilities

• Own the full analytics value chain end-to-end: frame business problems, design algorithms, implement and deploy scalable solutions, and enable colleagues and clients to adopt AI.
• Design, build, and deploy next-generation AI/GenAI solutions (including Agentic AI systems) for clients across industries and regions.
• Partner with clients in a client-facing role: manage engagements, client relationships, and provide thought leadership.
• Lead and manage teams of AI scientists, engineers, and designers; act as interface between business and technology.
• Apply software development practices and standards to deliver robust, maintainable software and CI/CD pipelines.
• Optimize computational efficiency of algorithms and software design for production systems.
• Develop and deliver thought leadership in scientific communities, publish papers, and represent BCG X at conferences.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience architecting and deploying AI/GenAI solutions at enterprise scale, including Agentic AI systems.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models.
• Proficient in Python and skilled in full-stack development using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software engineering practices.
• Familiarity with storage, manipulation, and management of relational, non-relational, and streaming data structures.
• Experience building and deploying production systems on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
• Strong record of leadership and project management; ability to drive commercial impact and guide non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working in fast-paced, client-focused environments.
