Inspection and Expediting Coordinator

About the Role

Wood has an opportunity for an experienced Inspection and Expediting Coordinator (Temporary) with experience in inspection activity, welding and testing knowledge, fabrication competence and procurement monitoring and fabrication experience to evaluate the correct fabrication progress status against schedule and workshop progress.

This job offers an exciting and technically advanced approach to value added quality control on a wide range of EPC projects.

Responsibilities

• Review supplier Inspection and Test Plan against purchase order, technical specifications, job specifications, codes, standards and statutory regulations
• Review supplier inspection and testing procedures against purchase order and technical requirements
• Attend and lead regular progress meetings with Supplier, Wood and Client
• Attend shop inspections and testing of equipment and materials, including NDE and hydrotests, as detailed in the Supplier Inspection and Test Plan
• Check compliance with purchase order requirements of equipment and materials
• Issue inspection reports after each visit or as requested and issue non-conformance reports for non-conforming equipment, materials or documentation
• Identify and prevent possible non-conformities and suggest corrective actions according to Quality Assurance System Procedures
• Expedite supplier action to resolve non-conformances and open issues arising from inspections; expedite corrective actions to resolve production or delivery problems
• Issue final inspection report and release equipment and materials
• Liaise with requisitioning Engineer and Inspection Manager and report inspection/testing matters to the Expediting and Inspection Manager
• Review suppliers' material certificates, test certificates, test reports and inspection data books
• Verify that purchase orders have been received and acknowledged and that there are no outstanding questions
• Review and analyze supplier/sub-supplier fabrication schedules and progress for engineering, procurement, fabrication, inspection & testing, packing and shipment
• Submit expediting reports after visits highlighting critical areas requiring recovery or corrective actions
• Ensure correct supplier personnel are interviewed and take action when slippages or delays occur; assist suppliers/sub-suppliers to resolve bottlenecks and facilitate on-time delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field
• At least 10 years' experience in inspection and testing of pressure equipment and packages
• Experience in Fired Heaters supply projects
• Certified Level 2 Operator for non-destructive testing (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT) in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9712 or equivalent (e.g. ASNT SNT-TC-1A)
• Certified Welding Inspector in accordance with CSWIP 3.1 or the European Welding Federation (IWI)
• Certified NACE Level II (preferable)
• Direct knowledge of heat treatments and types of equipment used on construction projects such as electrical resistance heating elements, induction coils or gas fired heaters
• Working knowledge of codes, standards and legislation including ASME Code Sec. I, Sec. VIII Div. 1 & 2, Sec. IX, Sec. V, ASME Sec. IIA, IIB, IIC, IID, API 560, API 934, API 936, API 582, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME B16.20, ASME B16.25, ASME B16.5, ASME B16.34, ASME B16.47, ASTM, AWS D.1.1 and EN 1090
• Broad knowledge of construction, fabrication and inspection techniques
• Knowledge of quality management and quality assurance standards e.g. ISO 9001
• Good planning and organizational skills and a proactive approach to resolving quality control issues
• Professional, safe and ethical behaviour in relationships with suppliers, client representatives or third parties
• Good knowledge of MS Office and excellent English; able to speak and write clearly and informatively
• Complete inspection and expediting reports and review supplier inspection/test plans and procedures in a timely manner
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to identifying, analysing and proposing constructive solutions
