Responsibilities

To provide insightful, relevant, succinct and timely credit analysis of a portfolio of SCB clients (current or prospective), propose counterparty credit grades via the relevant scorecard, and monitor credit-material events. The role supports Client Coverage and Risk and may cover industry/geography specific portfolios as well as other clients as required.

Strategy

  • Produce forward-looking, focused opinions on business and financial risk drivers in the client’s industry/geographic context, articulating key risks and potential mitigants.
  • Provide holistic counterparty assessments including comments on structural elements relevant to SCB exposures (guarantees, security arrangements).
  • Deliver analysis that is sufficiently granular to substantiate conclusions while remaining structured and succinct.
  • Prepare timely analysis for annual reviews, new material exposures, and rapid summary analysis where relevant.
  • For any BCA submission, critically review Environment & Social Risk Assessments (ESRA), Appropriateness & Suitability Assessments (FM Products), and ensure consistency/coherence of Approved Account Plan, Raptor, Client & Group Facility Summary & Structure.
  • Partner with Client Coverage on Risk Profile, Compliance Details, proposed Covenants and Risk Triggers; overall accountability for BCA package consistency rests with Credit Analysis.

Business

  • Partner Client Coverage and Risk to support client strategies and credit-analysis relevant matters.

Processes

  • Timely drafting of credit analysis as directed by Team Leader, including discussion of industry dynamics, competitive positioning, management strength and governance.
  • Assess client strategy, funding strategy, financial policy, treasury activity (hedging, cash management) and liquidity.
  • Develop current/forward year base forecasts and assess balance sheet, cashflow and profitability vulnerability via ratio analysis and stress testing.
  • Discuss other pertinent risks (country risk, parental/government linkage, ranking of indebtedness, fraud risk) and evaluate transaction-specific risks where required.
  • Complete Group Mandate/BCA Part 1 & Part 2, financial analysis/spreads, scorecards and ensure use of appropriate calculators (e.g. Raptor, Group Aggregation Calculator).
  • Complete ESRA checklist; for Cat 2 lines complete FM Appropriateness and GWWR Attribute checklists and update Credit Term Sheets based on RM/Risk feedback.
  • Support business on structuring deals, provide documentation support on credit aspects and work with IMO on BCA reworks.
  • Test and monitor covenants & risk triggers; EAR & ASTAR reporting/updates to credit; seek pre-approval endorsements where applicable; prepare country-specific regulatory check-lists; perform credit stress testing and CCC certification.
  • Prepare industry-specific reviews, portfolio reviews and assessments of new prospects as directed.

People & Talent

  • Support CA Team Leaders and team members on ad hoc projects, strategic initiatives and process improvements.
  • Share key knowledge and learnings across the team and provide credit-specific coaching to newer or less experienced members.

Risk Management

  • Proactively monitor key entity or industry developments and covenants/risk triggers for assigned clients.
  • Partner Relationship Managers in pursuing client strategies through idea generation, preparing materials for client discussions and ensuring RMs are briefed on key risk aspects.
  • Partner Risk through clear presentation of credit analysis and proposed credit grading; accompany RMs on client visits for due diligence.
  • Act as a point of expertise on credit aspects with Product and other stakeholders.

Governance

Maintain integrity in analysis through frequent, iterative discussion with Client Coverage and Risk on draft analysis, sector/geographic trends, covenants and risk triggers, and by proactively generating and discussing ideas with Client Coverage.
