About the Role

Product Design Engineering focuses on designing and developing new or existing products, components, or assemblies by applying engineering principles to meet customer technical/functional specifications and manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements. Activities include mathematical modelling, prototype design/test/modification/fabrication/assembly, and involvement in product-specific manufacturing processes and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects and processes, working independently with limited supervision.
• Coach and review the work of lower level professionals.
• Apply engineering principles to develop mechanical, electronic, or chemical products that meet customer specifications and manufacturing requirements.
• Conduct mathematical modelling to determine technical feasibility of proposed designs.
• Support and participate in design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototypes.
• May design product-specific manufacturing production processes and equipment.
• Address difficult and sometimes complex engineering problems.
