Senior Lead Fixture Design Engineer

About the Role

The Senior Lead Engineer, Mechanical Design develops new mechanical systems/modules and maintains existing designs. Research mechanical concepts and create system solutions using 3D modeling and simulation software. Complete calculations and test, validate, and qualify systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process and work with cross-functional teams including other engineers, customers, supply chain and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions in multiple domains and participate in project planning and scheduling.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers and act as a recognised expert in one or more technical areas.
• Review, interpret and may negotiate customer requirements/specifications and provide customer feedback.
• Lead deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
• Prepare calculations on proposed solutions and create technical drawings in line with company procedure, regulations and client standards.
• Submit drawings for review, use customer feedback and data to upgrade or repair existing machines, finalize designs and send prints to production.
• Provide support during the manufacturing process and may manage relationships with key vendors/partners.

Qualifications

• Project Management: ability to manage/lead complex, multiple-line engineering projects, create project/change management plans and deliver within time and budget.
• Leadership: demonstrate people and team leadership behaviours and coaching/mentoring capabilities.
• Financial acumen / business planning: create financial plans, profitability calculations, risk and sensitivity analysis and align plans internally and externally as needed.
• Technical competencies: D/PFMEA; 8D/Corrective Action; Equipment Safety; Design of Experiments (DOE); Quality & Lean practices.
• Other competencies: Communication/Negotiation/Presentation; Creative Problem Solving; Customer Interaction/Stakeholder Management; Working Effectively with Others.
• Typical Experience: 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
• Typical Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by geography.

Additional Information

• Physical demands: normal office environment, extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration, repetitive manual movements such as data entry.
• Occasional travel may be required.
