About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer with PHP (Symfony) expertise and working experience in Node.js to join our distributed, international team. Our current backend infrastructure is built on PHP, with an active roadmap to migrate toward Node.js. You will help maintain and develop the existing PHP ecosystem while actively contributing to the Node.js migration. This is a fully backend-focused role requiring seamless daily communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs using PHP (Symfony).
• Actively contribute to migrating legacy PHP services to Node.js, collaborating with the team’s dedicated Node.js engineer.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews to ensure high technical standards across both stacks.
• Work within a distributed, international team of developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver impactful features.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend performance and database queries to ensure scalability.

Qualifications

• Professional experience with PHP, specifically using the Symfony framework.
• Working knowledge of Node.js; able to pick up tickets, write backend logic, and contribute to the Node.js codebase.
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and understanding of data modeling.
• Experience designing and implementing robust RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good English: daily collaboration in English with a global team.
• Adaptability and a transition mindset; proven ability to work autonomously and effectively within a distributed, asynchronous team environment.

• Working time: Monday – Friday (9 AM – 6 PM).
• Location: Ho Chi Minh office (Podium Floor, Sapphire 2 tower, 92 Nguyen Huu Canh Street, Thanh My Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam); Da Nang office (23rd Floor, G8 Golden Building, 65 Hai Phong, Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City, Vietnam).
