Bilingual Medical Interpreter (Karen/English)

About the Role

i-Call International is hiring Karen consecutive medical interpreters to facilitate communication between healthcare providers and Karen-speaking patients. The role focuses on accurate medical interpretation and cultural mediation to support patient care.

Responsibilities

• Interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, treatments, and other information between Karen-speaking patients and doctors, nurses, and other medical staff.
• Provide cultural mediation to help patients understand and navigate the healthcare system and to inform providers of cultural considerations affecting care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in the interpretation profession.
• Document interpretation services provided, including date, time, duration, and type of interpretation.
• Keep up-to-date with medical terminology and healthcare practices to ensure accurate interpretation.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Karen and English.
• Experience in interpretation or translation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with the healthcare system.
• Good communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Technical Requirements

• 15 Mbps download and upload.
• USB headset (compulsory).
• PC: Core i5 (6th gen or higher) with minimum 8 GB RAM.
• LAN (Ethernet) connection and HD webcam.

Additional Information

• Timings: Hourly shift program.
• Work arrangement: remote.
• Pay rate: 10 USD per hour.
