About the Role
Credit Analysts have extensive knowledge of risk assessment and portfolio risk management framework which they use to support Account Managers with credit reviews, ongoing risk monitoring and client creditworthiness. They also assess SCB’s risk appetite against market and economic conditions across the different markets and asset classes.
Our Banking and Coverage team owns and leads the management and development of our Client Relationships globally. They work across our global network with product partners to deliver working capital, financing, trade, cash and market solutions for our clients. Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) supports clients with transaction banking, financial markets, corporate finance and borrowing needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide insightful, relevant, succinct and timely credit analysis of a portfolio of SCB’s FI clients, including proposing counterparty credit grades via the relevant scorecard and ongoing monitoring for credit‑material events.
- Perform consistency and coherence review of BCA submissions, including Approved Account Plan, Raptor (or equivalent), Client & Group Facility Summary & Structure (including Terms and Conditions).
- Partner with Client Coverage in completion of Risk Profile, Compliance Details, and proposed Covenants and Risk Triggers; overall accountability for consistency of the complete BCA package submitted to Risk.
- Timely drafting of credit analysis that is forward‑looking and structured; discuss industry dynamics, competitive positioning, management strength, corporate governance and strategy execution risks.
- Assess funding strategy, financial policy, treasury activity (hedging, cash management), liquidity, and develop current/forward year base forecast performance expectations.
- Assess balance sheet strength, cashflow and profitability vulnerability via ratio analysis and/or stress testing; perform credit stress testing where required.
- Discuss other pertinent risk aspects including country risk, parental/governmental linkages, ranking of indebtedness, fraud risk, and evaluate risks associated with proposed transactions.
- Complete Group Mandate/BCA Part 1 & Part 2, financial analysis/spreads, scorecards and ensure use of appropriate calculators in alignment with Credit Policy (e.g. Raptor, Group Aggregation Calculator).
- Perform Credit Term Sheet updates for Cat 2 lines, support business on structuring deals, provide documentation support on credit aspects and work with IMO on BCA reworks.
- Test and monitor Covenants & Risk Triggers; perform EAR & ASTAR reporting/updates to credit; seek pre‑approval endorsements where applicable; prepare country specific regulatory check‑lists.
- FICC Certification.
People & Talent
- Support CA Team Leaders and others on ad hoc projects, strategic initiatives and exercises to improve the team’s activities.
- Share key relevant knowledge and learnings across the team and provide credit specific coaching to newer or less experienced members.
Risk Management
- Proactively monitor key entity or industry‑wide events and developments, and covenants and risk triggers where applicable.
- Partner Relationship Managers in pursuing client strategies through idea generation, preparing materials for client discussion and ensuring they are briefed on key risk aspects.
- Partner with Risk through clear presentation of credit analysis and proposed outcomes.
