Operations Geoscience Specialist - (Sr. Reservoir Petrophysicist) - IES

About the Role

The Senior Reservoir Petrophysicist is responsible for delivering advanced integrated reservoir characterization, petrophysical evaluation, and production optimization solutions across the Asia Geozone and for global projects. The role combines expertise in wireline and drilling log interpretation, reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, production analysis, and field development studies to support reservoir management and hydrocarbon recovery optimization.

Responsibilities

• Deliver integrated reservoir characterization, petrophysical evaluation and production optimization across Asia Geozone and global projects.
• Interpret wireline and drilling logs, perform reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, production analysis and field development studies.
• Integrate petrophysical interpretation with production behavior, dynamic reservoir performance and AI-driven analytical workflows.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and geoscientists, and support cross-product line collaboration to drive business growth.
• Maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring activities comply with Company Security, Compliance & HSE policies, Management System, relevant laws, regulations and industry practices.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Geoscience, or related discipline.
• Required: Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in reservoir engineering, petrophysics, reservoir characterization, and field development.
• Preferred: Operator company background or direct operator project experience.
• Preferred: Experience in unconventional reservoirs, hydraulic fracturing, geothermal, CCS, or mature field redevelopment.
• Preferred: Exposure to AI-assisted reservoir interpretation and cloud-based digital platforms.
• Preferred: Active participation in SPE, SPWLA, or other professional organizations.

Skills

• Strong understanding of static and dynamic reservoir evaluation workflows.
• Experience in wireline logging interpretation and drilling services log analysis.
• Proficiency with reservoir engineering software (examples listed: Petrel, RMS, TechLog, tNavigator, PI Systems, Spotfire, Eclipse, WellFlow, Prosper, MBAL, GAP, PanSystem).
• Experience with coding and data analytics tools such as Python, SQL, MATLAB or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications, digital workflows and automation in subsurface studies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities in multidisciplinary environments; ability to work effectively within cross-functional and multicultural teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a dynamic environment.

Additional Information

• Experience in new technologies (e.g., CCUS, Green Energy) and digital solutions (e.g., IoT, AI, machine learning) is a plus.
