EHS Engineer

About Water

The incumbent ensures adherence to Thailand’s Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Act, APAC regional regulations, and global corporate standards. Responsibilities include engineering solutions for risk reduction, conducting inspections and investigations, supervising compliance programs, and promoting a proactive safety culture across diverse sites.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Environmental, or Safety Engineering).
• Acceptable technical training in occupational safety and health or related field.
• Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety/Environmental Engineering is an advantage.

Certifications

• Certified Safety Officer (Thailand, Department of Labour Protection & Welfare).
• ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 auditor training is an advantage.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (risk assessment).
• Knowledge of enforcement procedures and industrial hygiene techniques.
• Excellent communication and training delivery (Thai & English).
• Good organizational and supervisory skills.
• Ability to design engaging training materials with visual aids and interactive methods.

Experience

• Minimum 2–5 years in occupational safety and health/EHS roles.
• Experience in inspections, investigations, and industrial hygiene surveys.

Regulatory Compliance & Enforcement

• Ensure compliance with Thai labour laws & Workplace Safety & Health Act
• Conduct workplace inspections and industrial hygiene surveys.
• Take corrective action to enforce compliance with safety standards.
• Support audits by government agencies and corporate EHS teams.

Risk Management & Incident Investigation

• Perform hazard identification, risk assessments, and job safety analyses (JSA).
• Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and complaints.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Monitor high-risk activities (chemical handling, confined space entry, commissioning).

Training & Awareness

• Develop and deliver EHS training programs (e.g. chemical safety, PPE, ergonomics, emergency response).
• Assist in the establishment and monitoring of workplace safety committees.
• Disseminate safety information to employees and contractors.
• Mentor and supervise junior officers or inspectors.

Environmental Stewardship

• Monitor waste management, emissions, and sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Support ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting.

Operational & Supervisory Duties

• Provide technical guidance during shutdowns, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Supervise subordinate staff.
• Participate in budget preparation and control for EHS programs.
• Recommend changes in procedures, policies, and legislation.
• Prepare and submit monthly and weekly reports to the client and Regional EHS Manager.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to enhance EHS performance across sites.
• Benchmark against industry best practices and global standards.
• Drive initiatives to improve safety culture, reduce incidents, and enhance environmental performance.
