Senior Cloud Architect, Professional Services

About the Role

At AWS, we’re hiring highly technical Cloud Consulting Consultants to help our partners develop technical expertise and capacity, while collaborating with our customers and partners on key on-site engagements. Consultants will deliver proof-of-concept projects, topical workshops, and lead implementation projects focused on web applications, enterprise applications, HPC, batch processing and big data, archiving and disaster recovery, education and government.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to design and build IT infrastructure for customer migrations and cloud-native development, delivering technical solutions through infrastructure as code using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Lead discussions with senior personnel including C-Level regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation.
• Implement CI/CD and automation solutions using AWS services like Lambda and Step Functions, utilizing scripting languages such as Python.
• Design and implement best practice solutions, and facilitate workshops to help customers manage their operational needs.
• Integrate AWS cloud services with on-premise technologies from vendors like Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, and SAP.
• Address IT compliance and risk management requirements including security, privacy, SOX, and HIPAA.
• Execute portfolio assessment, wave planning, and dependency analysis to support migration and modernization goals.
• Support sales activity through solution design, effort estimation, presentations and driving solution integration with other components.
• Serve as technical lead for the practice to drive initiatives, build reusable assets, and support the team on solution & architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
• Hands-on experience leading the design, development and deployment of enterprise solutions at scale.
• Deep technical expertise and consulting acumen to effectively guide customers through their AWS cloud transformation journey.
• Customer-facing skills to represent AWS well and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation.

Skills

• Experience with AWS services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, RDS/SimpleDB, and IAM.
• Infrastructure as code: Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Automation and serverless: AWS Lambda, Step Functions; CI/CD and automation pipelines.
• Scripting experience (Python) and working in Linux environments.
• Experience integrating cloud services with on-prem vendors (Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP).
• Knowledge of security, privacy and regulatory compliance requirements (SOX, HIPAA).
