About the Role

Fraser Suites Bangkok is slated to open in 2026. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance, operation and reliability of all building systems and equipment within the hotel property to ensure a safe, efficient and well-maintained environment that supports uninterrupted hotel operations and optimal guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel property, ensuring proper functioning of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire & life safety systems, kitchen equipment, elevators and guestroom facilities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, breakdowns and emergency situations to ensure minimal downtime of critical hotel systems.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes, maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records, and ensure timely execution of maintenance schedules.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations including fire safety, health & safety and environmental standards; conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments; support emergency response procedures and drills.
• Manage external contractors and supervise quality of outsourced work; coordinate procurement of engineering supplies, spare parts and services.
• Assist in preparing and managing the engineering department budget, monitor maintenance costs and support energy conservation and utility optimisation initiatives.
• Participate in pre-opening engineering activities including system testing, commissioning and handover; review MEP design, drawings and specifications; participate in defect identification and rectification prior to opening.
• Localise engineering policies & procedures, preventive maintenance programmes and asset registers; assist setup of BMS, fire & life safety systems and operational infrastructure.
• Recruit, onboard and train the engineering team for pre-opening readiness; plan daily work assignments, shifts and manpower allocation; conduct performance reviews and support team development.
• Liaise with One Bangkok stakeholders, owners, developers and shared infrastructure providers to align hotel engineering standards with development operational requirements; maintain communication with internal departments, corporate teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Engineering or related field.
• Relevant technical certifications (HVAC, electrical systems, fire safety) are an advantage.
• Minimum 5–8 years' experience in engineering or facilities maintenance, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or engineering management role.
• Experience in hotels, serviced apartments or commercial buildings preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire safety systems; preventive maintenance planning and execution skills; strong problem-solving and fault diagnosis ability.
• Leadership and team supervision skills; knowledge of safety regulations and statutory compliance requirements; vendor coordination and basic project management skills.
• Good communication and reporting skills; high attention to detail, safety and operational reliability; ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively.
