Merchandising Manager (Cross-Border Sourcing)

About the Role

Merchandising Manager (Cross-Border Sourcing) — CP Axtra (Makro). Responsible for sourcing and managing overseas suppliers and supporting China cross-border procurement and supply operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate, onboard, and manage overseas suppliers (existing partners in Thailand and new potential suppliers) for China market demand.
• Execute sourcing, evaluation, and onboarding processes for new suppliers and products based on China market demand.
• Act as the supply-side interface for China business and collaborate with the Thailand team to manage purchase order fulfillment and shipment coordination.
• Optimize procurement cost structures and collect/verify supplier qualifications and product compliance documentation to ensure adherence to China cross-border e-commerce regulations.
• Provide accurate product information, procurement lead times, and supply plans to support sales forecasting and inventory management decisions.
• Drive establishment and optimization of internal processes and systems for overseas sourcing, supplier onboarding, and purchase ordering to improve end-to-end supply chain efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of sourcing experience, with 2+ years directly managing overseas suppliers for the China market in cross-border procurement (B2C from overseas regions to mainland China).
• Preference for experience in domestic cross-border e-commerce platforms, FMCG, or retail industries; Tmall experience is a plus.
• Strong capabilities in overseas supplier development, negotiation, relationship management, order management, and cost analysis.
• Familiarity with the procurement-to-handover process for cross-border logistics.
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (speaking) and English for daily multinational corporate communication.
• Proactive, strong problem-solving skills, excellent cross-team collaboration, and a process optimization mindset.
• Strong analytical and data management skills: MS-Excel (professional level), Outlook, analytics platforms, and marketplace back-end platforms.
• Relationship building and networking skills.
• Full-time bachelor's degree or higher.
