Ingredients Science & Clinical Research Specialist – Marine Ingredients

About the Role

The Ingredients Science & Clinical Research Specialist focuses on bridging ingredient science with clinical efficacy. The role involves conducting literature reviews, assessing ingredient properties, and overseeing external research activities. While third-party partners design and execute studies, this role critically reviews study plans, methodologies, and results to ensure scientific rigor and relevance. The person also collaborates with marketing by explaining scientific findings clearly, enabling accurate and compliant consumer communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and scientific evaluations on health benefits of ingredients
• Assess ingredient characteristics and correlate them with potential physiological benefits
• Prepare technical write-ups and scientific summaries for internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with third-party labs and research organizations on in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies
• Review and evaluate study protocols, methodologies, and reports for scientific accuracy and compliance
• Provide input to ensure study designs align with research objectives and regulatory requirements
• Interpret study results and communicate implications for product development and health claims
• Explain scientific findings to marketing and regulatory teams to support accurate claims and messaging
• Provide support in substantiating health claims and meeting compliance standards
• Identify emerging trends and opportunities for health-focused ingredient innovation
• Ensure scientific substantiation aligns with global regulatory frameworks and company strategy
• Prepare detailed technical reports, study evaluations, and evidence dossiers for internal and external use
• Maintain accurate records of research activities and clinical study outcomes

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Nutrition Science, Food Science, Biochemistry, or related fields
• 5+ years in R&D, clinical research, or scientific affairs within food, nutrition, or health industry
• Proven experience in managing external research collaborations and reviewing clinical trials
• Strong scientific writing and communication skills
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for health claims and efficacy studies
• Ability to interpret complex data and translate into actionable insights for internal teams
• Proficient in English
