Responsibilities

• Prepare hemodialysis area and ensure readiness for each treatment cycle.
• Prepare and pick all needed consumables for HD treatment and the machine; collect consumables after treatment.
• Assist in checking and maintenance of RO system and prepare dialyzers for dialysis machines.
• Assist in internal and external cleaning of hemodialysis machines after each treatment and prepare/clean dialysis chairs/beds.
• Perform vital sign checks pre-, during and post-treatment and record as standard.
• Check body weight before and after treatment and report to nurse.
• Assist nurse to observe patient condition, signs and symptoms, and assist patient during and after treatment.
• Assist nurse to collect and deliver specimens to the laboratory.
• Perform other professional nursing activities as approved by Head Nurse.

Quality and safety

• Provide nursing care and service following patient safety standards.
• Check and count consumable supplies in inventory and ensure readiness of supplies in treatment cart.
• Check and clean emergency cart and treatment cart for readiness.
• Check and record temperature and humidity in inventory area.
• Provide a safe clinical environment and report all incidents and customer feedback to nurse.
• Participate in unit quality activities to support a safety culture.

Communication and service

• Communicate effectively with patients and families to ensure concerns and feedback receive rapid response.
• Assist nurse in checking patient schedules, patient location, and reimbursement category.
• Coordinate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and provide quality service to patients and families.
• Maintain professional image and comply with accepted dress code.

Education and learning

• Demonstrate willingness to evaluate own practice and keep abreast of current knowledge.
• Avail self of continuing education programs and attend company education courses or conferences as required.
