Engineering Specialist II (Slider Metrology)

About our group:

The AFM Metrology team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) systems used in manufacturing and process control. The team supports AFM measurement operations, image analysis for critical quality parameters (CTQ), equipment maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities. The team works closely with process, engineering, quality, and production groups to ensure measurement capability and equipment readiness.

About the role - you will:

• Perform AFM image analysis and data interpretation for various Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) parameters.
• Review AFM measurement results and ensure compliance with process and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventive and corrective maintenance for AFM equipment.
• Support AFM system calibration, qualification, and performance verification activities.
• Investigate measurement or equipment-related issues and conduct root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with process engineers to improve measurement methods and system performance.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and analysis documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance measurement capability, equipment reliability, and manufacturing yield.

Your experience includes:

• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in metrology, electronics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, instrumentation, or related fields.
• Experience with AFM, metrology equipment, or precision measurement systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Understanding of SPC, GR&R, measurement system analysis, and statistical tools.
• Ability to analyze measurement data and identify trends or abnormalities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of data analysis and image analysis is an advantage.
