About the Role

Purpose of Activity/Assignment: To provide expert technical support to the Global Practice on Child Nutrition and Development to develop and advance the climate resilience of UNICEF’s global nutrition programmes, to protect children’s nutrition in the context of increasing climate hazards that threaten to reverse progress on ending child malnutrition.

Responsibilities

• Thought leadership: Contribute to development of global thought leadership products on links between climate change and maternal and child nutrition, including a brief on climate nutrition anticipatory action and a collection of case studies on country climate nutrition programming (deliverables 1.1, 1.2).
• Research and evidence: Support UNICEF’s global climate nutrition evidence agenda through evidence generation, development of research concept notes and funding proposals, design and implementation support for research projects, and documentation/publication of findings; develop guidance on climate nutrition vulnerability assessment and monitoring methodologies (deliverables 2.1–2.9 as specified).
• Partnerships: Identify and develop internal and external partnerships to further climate-resilient nutrition, including collaboration with other UNICEF global practices, UN agencies and global coordination mechanisms; represent UNICEF in external meetings (deliverables reported under no.5).
• Technical excellence and capacity building: Provide technical assistance to country offices (online support, document review, briefs and tools); update and contribute to the online climate nutrition toolkit; co-facilitate country workshops and webinars; deliver outputs from country capacity building workshops and global/country strategic webinars (deliverables 4.1–4.17).
• Advocacy and fundraising: Provide technical support for development of funding proposals that include climate-resilient nutrition actions at country, multi-country and global levels; contribute to global policy opportunities and strategic events to position nutrition within the global climate agenda; submit regular reports on advocacy and fundraising activities (deliverables 5.1–5.6).
