About the Role

This is an opportunity to lead, develop and grow a role within the Commercial and Corporate Legal Team based in Bangkok. The Director will report to the VP of Commercial and Corporate, lead and own relations with the Supply team (which manages 100% of Agoda’s property relationships), and focus on supply contracts, B2B relationships, hotel/property matters, general commercial issues and Supply Team operational improvements. Relocation and work visa provided for candidates not yet based in-market.

Responsibilities

• Be the key decision maker for certain legal decisions in conjunction with business stakeholders and manage escalations to senior management (including GC and CEO).
• Draft and negotiate international commercial agreements focused on strategic partnerships, B2B, supply distribution, new initiatives, marketing and public relations.
• Own and lead legal support for the Supply team covering all supply relationships for Agoda; be the sole POC for the Supply team.
• Develop, coach and mentor junior team members within a small team.
• Actively engage with Agoda senior management at C-suite level and maintain regular communication with key business teams, global legal, finance, tax and external counsel.
• Provide practical, well-reasoned legal advice across a wide range of legal and business matters and processes.
• Manage litigation and disputes for Supply stakeholders with commercial, P&L-focused solutions; draft key agreements with hotel partners and drive continual improvement and innovation.
• Drive and implement contract standards, controls, policies, procedures, training and templates to foster efficiency and compliance.
• Influence senior stakeholders on implementation of key legislation across broad legal areas specific to Supply.
• Support the VP of Commercial and Corporate in ideation and implementation of pan-team strategies, initiatives and innovation.

Qualifications

• 12+ years post-qualified experience with a high level of impact.
• Proven ability to work autonomously with management and leadership experience of small–medium sized teams.
• High commercial awareness and business acumen with experience managing complex and strategic legal matters.
• Ability to create, drive and own strategy for the Supply legal team aligned with business goals.
• First-class verbal and written communication and organisation skills with high level of English proficiency; exceptional legal drafting skills.
• Experience negotiating and influencing high-complexity and high-risk matters externally, including with government authorities.
• Ability to provide commercial, innovative legal solutions to a fast-paced business partner and drive efficiencies and process improvement, including the use of Gen AI.
• Qualified lawyer/attorney with current entitlement to practice; strong academic credentials, top-tier law firm experience plus prior in-house and significant contracting and commercial experience.
