Purpose of role

The Thai Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Thai Language and Thai Studies instruction that inspires students and supports their academic, linguistic, cultural, and personal development. The role includes promoting students’ enjoyment of learning while contributing positively to the wider life of the school community.

The Thai Teacher is capable of teaching Thai Language and Thai Studies to both Thai and international students across the Cambridge Primary/Secondary programmes and French programme and will work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold the standards and values of BCIS.

Responsible to Head of Thai, Head of Primary, Head of Secondary for all aspects of the role.

Responsible for The designated students in assigned Thai Language and Thai Studies classes within the Cambridge Primary/Secondary programmes and French programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Thai Language and Thai Studies effectively to students with diverse learning needs, abilities, and language backgrounds.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons with clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Differentiate instruction appropriately to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Promote students’ enjoyment of learning while supporting their academic progress and personal development.
  • Maintain high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, and classroom engagement.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and educational technology to enhance learning.
  • Establish a positive, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment that supports student learning and well-being.
  • Set and mark work regularly, including homework, assessments, and examinations where appropriate.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and constructive feedback is provided to students.
  • Ensure that appropriate cover is available when absent from school Cover for absent colleagues as is reasonable, fair and equitable

Curriculum and Assessment

  • To develop lesson plan and prepare each lesson and evaluate its outcomes.
  • To develop Thai Language and Culture curriculum according to the guidelines from MOE
  • To prepare class report for the ONESQA (Sor Mor Sor) Quality Assurance/ Accreditation Visit.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement a coherent Thai Language and Culture curriculum aligned with relevant national guidelines and school expectations.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to inform planning, differentiation, and targeted intervention where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date assessment, attendance, and student progress records.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to written reports and parent communications as required.
  • Support internal and external assessment processes where applicable.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work, teaching resources, and curriculum materials.

Student Welfare and Safeguarding

  • Promote the safety, well-being, and personal development of all students.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Uphold and follow all BCIS safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and behaviour policies at all times.
  • Report concerns relating to student welfare or safeguarding in accordance with school procedures.
  • Act as a positive role model for students in all professional interactions.
  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Child Protection Team, ensuring Thai-speaking staff fully understand child protection policies, procedures, and legal obligations.
  • Liaise with relevant local authorities as required to support safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments and participate in whole-school initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in meetings, parent conferences, school events, and professional discussions as required.
  • Support positive relationships between home and school.
  • Be available to parents at other mutually agreed times as needed.

Enrichment and School Contribution

  • Support the organisation of Thai cultural events and activities within the school community.
  • Contribute to displays, resources, and activities that promote Thai language, culture, and student achievement.
  • Participate in enrichment activities and co-curricular programmes where appropriate.
  • Assist with school trips, educational visits, assemblies, and special events as required.
  • Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with school expectations.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of reflective practice.
  • Participate fully in appraisal, training, and school improvement processes.
  • Support quality assurance processes, including preparation of documentation for internal or external review where applicable.
  • Maintain professional standards in line with school expectations and relevant professional teaching standards.
