Head of Education

Role

The British Council is looking for an ambitious and influential Head of Education to lead our Education portfolio in Thailand.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for a diverse portfolio spanning student mobility, internationalisation, tertiary education, science and research partnerships, non-formal education and client-funded programmes.

You will shape our strategy, lead delivery, grow our partnerships and ensure our work delivers meaningful impact and sustainable income. You will also play a key role in strengthening the UK–Thailand education relationship and positioning the British Council as a trusted partner across the sector.

Accountabilities:

• Set the strategy: Lead the Education strategy and annual plans for Thailand, responding to sector trends, stakeholder priorities and UK–Thailand bilateral objectives.
• Lead performance: Take overall responsibility for portfolio impact, financial sustainability, quality, risk and delivery.
• Grow the business: Identify new opportunities, develop strategic partnerships and lead bids, proposals and client-funded programmes.
• Build influence: Develop senior relationships across government, universities, funders, academics, researchers and other education stakeholders.
• Shape insight: Bring deep market knowledge and evidence to policy discussions, thought leadership and programme development.
• Champion inclusion: Embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across our programmes, partnerships and culture.

Role Specific Knowledge and Experience

Essential
You will be a strategic and collaborative leader with:

• Strong knowledge of the Thai and UK education sectors and the international education landscape.
• Experience delivering externally funded programmes and client-funded contracts.
• Strong Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) expertise, with the ability to turn evidence into strategy and impact.
• A proven track record of building trusted relationships with senior and diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in business development, partnership development and/or income generation.
• Strong commercial, financial, programme and risk management skills.
• A commitment to EDI and creating more inclusive opportunities through education.

Desirable
Knowledge of Thai student mobility, transnational education and UK–Thailand education and research partnerships would be an advantage.

Role Specific Skills

• Strong reporting-writing and presentation skills, including at conferences and sector events.
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and negotiate effectively
• Team working and inter-cultural skills, working globally
• Ability to lead digital events on basic platforms (Microsoft Teams) ensuring all corporate standards are met, including those for accessibility and safeguarding.

Qualifications

Education: Degree or equivalent experience required.
Professional Qualifications
Project management qualification or equivalent experience desirable.
