AI & FinOps Forecasting Engineer (Contract 2 years)

Responsibilities:

• Build a tool that project owners can use on their own, without asking FinOps every time.
• Let users change these inputs: which model, how many transactions per day, average tokens in, average tokens out, and how much will be cached.
• Make the tool simple enough for a non-technical project owner to use.
• Build and tune the cost formula so the estimate is as close as possible to real production cost.
• Include the effects of caching, retries and other overhead in the estimate.
• Add new models to the tool when they become available.
• Change prices when vendors change them, and keep a clear version history of the price list.
• After a project goes live, compare the forecast with the real cost from the FinOps platform.
• Find where the formula was wrong and fix it.
• Report forecast accuracy so users know how much to trust the numbers.
• Work with the Agentic AI Platform team to bundle this tool into the main platform.
• Share the forecast numbers with whoever is pricing work for customers.

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in software engineering, data science or analytics engineering, including building tools that other people use.
• Experience building cost, pricing or capacity models and checking them against real data.
• Experience delivering a web tool or API used by non-technical users.
• Experience with LLM applications and how their cost behaves is a strong advantage.
