Plaster and Compound Development Engineer

Report to: Research and Development Manager
Compound and Plaster Development Engineer will work and develop the industrial plaster and compound products for Knauf Plaster Thailand and APAC compound products, to implement new products and innovation for these product categories in markets served by Knauf, including enhance product quality for customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a safe work environment by upholding safety as a top priority and core value; active participation in training, housekeeping, safety huddles, SOP preparation, audits and emergency response.
• Implement new product and technology development for jointing, surface and other compound products including Industrial Plaster in line with business strategies across the regions.
• Coordinate with lab personnel and other functions to execute projects and coordinate with Iphofen on regional/global projects in the plasters area.
• Evaluate new or alternative raw materials and develop new products for different market segments.
• Drive operations excellence: raw material evaluations, cost reduction initiatives, formulation optimization, development of test procedures and QA programs, and competitive benchmarking.
• Work with manufacturing, marketing, supply chain and sales teams; support customer visits to better understand requirements and applications.
• Serve as a knowledge resource with thorough understanding of products, formulations, test procedures and product attributes; ensure IP protection protocols are followed.
• Promote innovation and think outside the box on product and technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or science (Chemical, Materials, Civil or Chemistry).
• Minimum 3 years of R&D/Process/Quality experience in the gypsum building materials industry; exposure in various parts of gypsum and compound product and process is preferred.
• Knowledgeable on product requirements, industry standards, market requirements, competitive landscape, raw materials and suppliers.
• Managerial skill and communication skill; ability to work unsupervised and as part of a wider team with many stakeholders.
• Computer skills: proficiency in MS Office; data analysis program is advantage.
• Good command of English; energetic self-starter with a curious mind and initiative to keep updated on industry and technological developments.
