Product Quality Engineer

About the Role

Product Quality Engineer (onsite, contract). Apply a solid understanding of quality control and manufacturing concepts to oversee development and implementation of Product Quality Plans (PQP) and manage Contract Manufacturer (CM) quality to ensure adherence to Apple quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development of specific Product Quality Plans (PQP) appropriate to the program.
• Evaluate and communicate yield and outgoing inspection quality of new and existing processes.
• Drive corrective actions cross-functionally with internal and external team members and perform failure analysis.
• Support development and implementation of quality inspection tools.
• Identify and direct studies to implement process and quality improvements.
• Assist to establish audit procedures appropriate to program and supplier to ensure adherence to Apple quality standards.
• Interface with internal and external groups to define quality expectations and appropriate assurance techniques for the product.
• Contract Manufacturer Quality Management: assess CM production control and quality programs, identify shortfalls, and help secure agreement to correct.
• Review PQP with CM and other Apple functional groups to optimize factory quality programs.
• Evaluate CM readiness and adherence to PQP at all development and qualification stages.
• Monitor quality performance through production line statistics, company inspections, and audits; prepare performance summaries and communicate to management.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 5–8 years of experience in consumer product quality.
• Strong ability in driving corrective actions and failure analysis efforts.
• Knowledge of quality and reliability concepts, supplier management, and general manufacturing operations; depth in a specific process, material or industry is valued.
• Project management experience and solid understanding of problem-solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis and statistical process control principles preferred.
• Experience with mechanical, EE and acoustics is a plus.
• Fluency in English and Thai; Mandarin is a plus.
